Not much memorable telly has stayed in my head since the eighties. I vividly remember this though.
Miami Vice/Brothers in Arms
Ah, my favourite Ferrari. In fact, the only Ferrari I actually like, mainly because, unlike most other examples of the brand, it doesn’t resemble a spatula.
A similarly riveting bit of TV, strangely enough set to exactly the same music was the episode of the West Wing where Bartlett announces his decision to run for a 2nd term as president, despite the revelation that he has MS.
There was another Miami Vice sequence set to In The Air Tonight that created a similar atmosphere. The star guests on MV were usually a great source of amusement – Sheena Easton springs readily to mind!
Lovely music – I still have a soft spot for Dire Straits especially the Love Over Gold album. Miami Vice, on the other hand is tele-visual pig-swill of the highest order!
Come on..Crockett/Tubbs? What’s not to love?
As to Ferraris, you’re just wrong Al, nearly all are gorgeous!
Love Over Gold? Splendid album. For pretty much every climbing trip to the Coe in living memory Brothers in Arms has been put on the stereo just before the Buchaille heaves into view. It’s a tradition don’cha know!
Scott, I’m getting the impression that you were not a true child of the 80s!
